The Aviva Wall

I knew about Roger Waters's The Wall Tour for some time now. I missed seeing him and Pink Floyd live in 1994 but this time fortune came down my alley. I'm not a big Floyd fan, but I still wouldn't want to miss the opportunity. Thanks to my friends, we got a pair of tickets to see them live in Bucuresti just in front of Parliament House. The gig policy said no cameras or recording devices. Ha, what about smart phones, you phonies?! Anyway, knowing they will come to Dublin too I planned to be there and record the light show, which is greater if you are at the concert, not outside it. That said, myself and my buddy photographer were last night in pole position to record it. Good dusk light, just a tad chill. Here it is.

Lost and found!

Ballycorus Leadmines, reminiscence of a lost industry - the lead mining. I finally managed to find the site, thanks to good weather and other favorable circumstances. Great outdoor location, mountain bikers and regular hikers during the day, empty beer cans and other littering during the night.

Sandymount Tide

By the time I finished finding the right spot, mount the tripod, set the camera, put the filter, I noticed the three humps in the foreground have almost disappeared. The tide at Sandymount is very quick and you can easily forget where you are and that you don't have proper shoes.

Open House Dublin 2011

Three to four minutes to admire Dublin from above. It's not enough! There is no other way to it, but "becoming a syndicate member" - end of quote. Once a year, the architectural event- Open House Dublin organizes visits to key locations- residential, public and office buildings. I hope someday this could be done on a regular basis. If the weather helps, the view from the tallest building in Dublin is amazing!

What you see in foreground is the very cliff being eroded, chunks of the edge slowly letting go and diving into the 200 meters abyss. I mentioned before the "irresponsible crowds", but I also joined the band wagon and went over to see how close you get to the edge. It went OK, not to mention the sun who was more and more part of the picture.

It's settled then...don't expect anything to go as planned. Midday, fog, never ending flocks of tourists, Italians, Spaniards or Americans, some too young, some irresponsible as they were leaning too close to the cliff's edge and all of them in your shot, not saying "excuse me"... A very rugged landscape, you look for the best possible angle, giving the above conditions as you try to get away from the known official trails. No chance for a shot. Above all, you still enjoy it and somehow, grateful for being there in such a colourful setting, on such a short notice, knowing what to expect from the beginning and above all, you try not to complain. And when you least expect it, something amazing happends. You relax a bit, you just let everyone else be...and you take one more look. This photo opportunity was almost handed on a plate. I never expected to see the famous Cliffs of Moher Stack pipping just over the edge of the grass. I have never seen this angle. I know I was looking for a different approach because this place has been photographed a lot. I got my reward...(say 'thank you' and end it!)

Morning City colours

Early morning is usually a busy time. We pass by in a hurry and miss the hidden glamour. If only we could look up more often. There's a show going on, above our eyes. Of course the sun helps a lot, especially if you carry a camera and if you're in a good mood. The city is usually a place too busy for fluffy wanderers in the morning. Today I was the only one looking up. I was on a private date with my city.

Shakespeare in College

Shakespeare Festival takes place in Dublin between 1st and 11th of June . The main event of the day will be performed in Trinity College Front Square . More of it on the Festival's Official Page .
