In and out

What you see in foreground is the very cliff being eroded, chunks of the edge slowly letting go and diving into the 200 meters abyss. I mentioned before the "irresponsible crowds", but I also joined the band wagon and went over to see how close you get to the edge. It went OK, not to mention the sun who was more and more part of the picture.

...may the Fog be with you...

Doonagore Fog

It's actually immensely challenging to take a shot in foggy conditions. I've never tried that until now, I hope the result meets the expectations. I was hoping for the Atlantic sunset but I got something different in return.

The Harp

Atlantic silhouette

Doonagore Castle is a private property in walking distance from Doolin's Fisher Street. I was looking forward to be there before the sunset, but the situation was foggy. I decide to play along and get the most of it. The best part beside the novelty of photographing in fog was the surrounding area was deserted. The only thing "in the way" was my car, which I had to move around the place.

The Birthday present

It's settled then...don't expect anything to go as planned. Midday, fog, never ending flocks of tourists, Italians, Spaniards or Americans, some too young, some irresponsible as they were leaning too close to the cliff's edge and all of them in your shot, not saying "excuse me"... A very rugged landscape, you look for the best possible angle, giving the above conditions as you try to get away from the known official trails. No chance for a shot. Above all, you still enjoy it and somehow, grateful for being there in such a colourful setting, on such a short notice, knowing what to expect from the beginning and above all, you try not to complain. And when you least expect it, something amazing happends. You relax a bit, you just let everyone else be...and you take one more look. This photo opportunity was almost handed on a plate. I never expected to see the famous Cliffs of Moher Stack pipping just over the edge of the grass. I have never seen this angle. I know I was looking for a different approach because this place has been photographed a lot. I got my reward...(say 'thank you' and end it!)

At the end of the journey

L_Roses Point01
The Atlantic Coast seen late in the day from a scenic place in Sligo. Definitely I have to come back and hunt for a better exposure.

Crookhaven, Co. Cork

Almost sunset; we reach the hotspot of the trip: Three Castle Head and the ruins of a remote castle
The Castle ruins
All over the horizon, all you can see are glorious golden shades, deep blue water and cloudless sky. It couldn't get any better than this, maybe being at the location an hour earlier. At the far right, third row, you can see a glimpse of Mizen Head.

Early morning view over Crookhaven peninsula and village.
